| Fractal Architecture Fractal Architecture was spawned by marrying the principles of Wright’s organic architecture and Brunechelli’s desire for the larger architectural form be reflected in each of its constituent parts with the development of fractal science over the last 50 years. With the advent of computers the complex calculations required with fractal geometry are done within seconds. Fractal architecture is generated by applying fractal geometric principals to the design of architectural facades and form. Fractal Architectural FacadesFractal Architectural Facades are developed by iterating a fractal fundamental region and then applying rotational, mirror and linear transformations to duplicate it across the facade. Fractal Architectural FormsFractal Architectural Forms are generated by transforming a seed slab into a number of constituent elements through fractal operations of rotation, scaling and linear transformations. These elements are bound together as a second generation seed shape which is reiterated according to the same transformations. This process continues for as many generations as desired. Fractal HousesFractals Houses are a subset of fractal architectural forms. The affine transformations that constitute these generative forms are nuanced for the scale and intimacy of a residential composition. Grunbaum & Shepard FacadesGrunbaum & Shepard Facades wrote the seminal book on symmetry, “Tilings and Patterns”. Since the antiquities architecture has employed symmetry operations to develop both its facades as well as its form. Utilizing the diagrammatic classifications in this book, facades are designed with an underlying but unapparent symmetry structure. Architectural FormsArchitectural Forms developed using methodologies from historical art movements and scientific research. Topological FormsTopological Forms developed through lofting operations based on topological shifts of the splines which define the loft.
